Project looking glass: Scout II Sleuth

I bought this scout from a 90-year-old gentleman who just lost his wife. He was the primary caretaker and held the position for over 10 years. He wanted to redo the vehicle but was unable to do so. I still send him updates from time to time. I also found it strange that my Scout had two VIN number plates/stickers. The one below is located on the front left-hand side, near the A-pillar. The other was on the opposite side of the vehicle and was a metal-stamped type. Not sure why there are two, but you can see them below.

One of them has a Canadian stamp, and the other looks like the good old USA. Got it? Makes sense.

While looking back through some old paperwork that came with my truck, I noticed the engine was dropped around 2015. This doesn’t show me how old the engine is, and I assume that the transmission is original. This could have been printed in 2015, and work could have been done later or slightly earlier. I will post more updates as I find things.
