Project: Plug the holes…

It’s better known as dropping a grand on gauges…

The boys at Anything Scout recommend gauges from AutoMeter.com. Over the next month or so, I will research these bad boys and consider the look I want inside my Scout II.

So I pulled the trigger on my gauges and went with the AutoMeter American Muscle Series. I researched online, but I have seen some like these at AnythingScout and found some on YouTube. This is a very personal step with thousands of options. You can do everything: digital, classic, stock, Chrono…etc. The options are limitless, it seems. For my install, I will have six gauges in the AnythingScout cutout. You will spend anywhere from $700 to $1200 on gauges. There are some cheaper ones on eBay and Amazon. At about 1/2 the price, that may be how you want to go, but I wanted something a little nicer.

From reading the directions, I see there are a few things to consider

  1. This fuel level sender is equipped with a five-hole mounting flange. An adapter plate will be required if your vehicle uses a six-hole flange (Auto Meter model # 3263).
  2. I think the Speedometer will need a relay to send the information from the screw to the electric sensors on the dash.

Update:

I finally got my SCOUT II back from State Line Auto and hooked up all the gauges. The only challenge is that the fuel sending unit is not hooked up and showing the proper fuel level.
