Project II-Tone: Ready for paint! Part Uno
I think I have found the color scheme. I am not 100% sure about the color of the pinstripe, but I LOVE the front cowl, all in white. It will look great with the stainless grill. Leave your comments in the section below.
I am going with sage green and an “antique white”. I talked to my painter, and he is confident we can match up the paint either with the front all white or the easier, with a straight pinstripe straight down the side.

I went to the shop to start the process of painting, which I am going to break down into three parts:
- Protective paint
- Rhino Lining
- Body Paint
Protective paint is to be sprayed on the internal fendors. As you can see, they already sprayed the front of the truck, and the black looks pretty dang good. It almost got me thinking I should leave it black….nah!!

I also took some shots of the inside. I had not seen behind the dash. It is in pretty good shape as far as rust is concerned. The electrical will also be stripped out, and we will put in the new wiring harness. The floor pans look great, and the welding work has been knocked down and smoothed out. You can also see the hints of the original color behind the dash. It

I ordered the sales sheet in digital format, but I think I will find that the original paint color was Cosmic Blue Irid.

Well – I went to see my guys down at the shop to see what was happening. They were applying kilmat and the first part of the bed liner. You can already tell that the mat is going to drown out a LOT of sound. I didn’t do a before and after, but I am sure it will be way quieter on the road.

We will try some other strip options for breaking apart the Scout paint job. We are considering using a series of small lines to create the break. Something where there would be a white top, broken with a thin green line and then a more prominent white line, then a larger green line, then white until the bottom green. Or we will use one pinstripe line where the colors meet to make a break. We are still working on the idea. It is hard to tell but, the white on the top is off-white, which should make it look older.
I also snapped some extra pictures.
