I have been doing lots of research, trying to figure out what touchscreen unit will fit without much modification to the dashboard or the dash panel. I think I found a winner—introducing the Single Din Touch Screen Car Stereo with Wireless Apple CarPlay. I purchased mine before the 2025 tariff wars for $99 plus tax. I am pretty sure this thing came straight from mainland China, which stinks, but are there American-made head units out there? If so, leave a comment as to where one would find one.

Let’s be honest. Do I expect this thing to fit or work correctly on the first try? Not a chance in hell! It does have cool features. Wireless or wired car play. GPS for the maps. (2) USB adapters. We shall see if it fits, and I will report back when we try to install it.
Update:
Well, I’ll be! It fits!

She’s alive!!!

Update:
I am going to add a subwoofer to the system, so I decided to match the retro sound speakers. I plan on mounting the SUB-8100 in the rear of the scout.
Update:
I will be installing a retro sound sub-woofer, but since there are plenty of videos on the internet, I will not be taking pictures of the process. I will take after pictures and show you where I put the sub-woofer in the vehicle.
Update:
I got the speaker installed and working! It was pretty simple. Just follow the directions, hide the wires, and be patient. Only one wire had to go through the firewall, which was the power wire. The other wire that I grounded with the back left running light / brake light, was the ground from the speaker.
