Sidquest: Headliners are for quakers.
You will notice that my cover image is a little different. I quit paying for ChatGPT and use Grok now. Grok creates more realistic images which, I don’t know if I love or not—either way. GPT only allows the free version to do a few renditions of pictures before it says to try again tomorrow.

I found the images above online…somewhere… I really would like to give credit but I cant remeber. I bought some thrift white board from the Home Depot. It was about $20 bucks and will tell you what I am learning. I don’t have a big enough table to put the thing down to really work on. You need a pretty large bench and all I have is a folding table.

It’s super hard to see, but I printed out the dimensions I had and then started cutting the external dimensions to get it down to 82 1/2 by 46 1/4 inches. I then put some blue masking tape down to ensure my saw didn’t blow the board apart. I then taped the edges with some clear tape to keep out moisture. I feel like if this gets wet, it will puff like masonite.
I am on the prowl for some cool headliner fabric. I thought about doing a flannel like this:

I even look at some faux crocodile leather. Well, it is technically FAUX Leather, but who’s counting?

Update:
I have decided to have my upholstery guy do the sewing and covering of the board I cut. The idea is to cover the board with vinyl and padding and add a middle strip of diamond pattern for some extra pop. I decided against the faux croc leather.

I am going to do some work this weekend. I think I have the “right” size for the board. My guy will install the board and then cover it and wrap the vinyl behind the fiberglass inserts.
Update:
Finishing up the board cutting for the two dome lights. I was able to follow the printouts to match up the holes.

J.R., my upholstery guy, sent a picture of the headliner. I will do some diamond stitching to match my doors and center console. I think it will be pretty sweat!!

Updates:
JR Sent me a few pictures. He is supposed to install the headliner on Monday and fix the seat back as well.

Updates:
JR cam and glued the headliner in, and we decided to put two screws in the headliner to hold the board to the steel supports. That way – there shouldn’t be any challenge with a saggy headliner…

Next up is the A/C.
