Okay, I was expecting that some crap was going to happen. I was actually just researching the dust cover that was missing when I bought this thing. I was thinking, man I should probably replace that thing. I am not sure if this missing dust cover has anything to do with next things to get fixed but here we go. I told them to start diagnosing on Monday morning Sept. 8th. That gives me 11 days to get this thing ready for Harvesters in the Hollar.
The next 4 challenges:
- Won’t come out of first gear.
- My guy said the transmission fluid was full, but I recall him mentioning it was low.
- Update: It was in 4 wheel low and it wouldn’t go into any other gear. Nothing to fix here! Just put it in 2W.
- The engine stops when you brake hard.
- I have no idea, but I think it may be related to the torque converter.
- Update: No longer happening.
- The front end is whining.
- It may be a wheel bearing.
- I am thinking it is a brake pad warning (squealer). I am getting the front brakes done on Thursday.
- Update: it was the squealer on the brake pad that was making the noise. I got them both replaced today and everything is working well!
- The speedometer intermittently dropped out.
- I am not as concerned about this. I think it has to do with the access to the GPS satellites.
- Update: There are still a few issues with the intermittently dropping out. I’m trying to move the GPS detector in multiple locations on the dash.

Update:
Talked to my guys today! Seems that my Scout II was in 4 Low and would not shift from 1st to 2nd..or 3rd for that matter, which makes sense. What is a little crazy is that I texted my body/paint guy about a little spot on the drip rail, which is starting to rust. Of course, they told me to bring it in and they would fix it. Anyway, they sent me the picture above because they saw it on the test drive. I HOPE to pick it up tomorrow. I am so ready!
Update:
Day 503….uhhhhg. My mechanic didn’t get crap done this week but he is ready for me to pick it up. That will mean 506 days from the start of the project, I will be driving the rig!
Update:
Day 506 – almost one year and four months to the day. She is back and under her own power!

She still needs some minor tweaks, but she’s finally home!!
Update: 142 miles on the new odometer. All good levels and be checked and everything is looking good. I’m still monitoring a potential oil leak on/around the oil pan.
Next step is to get the wheels aligned. I am hoping that will help since I walk from dotted line to yellow solid.
